divh2Certified Pipe Welder/h2pPosition Summary: The Pipe Welder will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of HVAC, Utility and Process piping systems./ppPosition Responsibilities:/pulliRegular attendance at assigned location; may include the A/Z fabrication facility or other project sites;/liliWorks on systems that include Heating Hot Water, Chilled Water, Steam, Condensate, Compressed Air, Process Fluids, Chemical, Fuel Oil, Gasses, and other related systems;/liliWorks with materials that include carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, fiberglass, copper, (brazed, soft soldered and pro-press);/liliClamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding./liliRemove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers./liliChip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment./liliWeld pipe and components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using open root butt weld, socket weld and/or fillet weld./liliOperate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding./liliRecognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment./liliIgnite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits./liliExamine work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications./liliPrepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreignmatter./liliMonitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material./liliSelect and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals./liliFill holes, and increase the size of metal parts./liliDetect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors./liliDetermine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques./liliConnect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained./liliLay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers./liliRepair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools./liliClean or degrease parts, using wire brushes, portable grinders, or chemical baths./liliMark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required./liliPosition and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools./liliAnalyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations./liliDismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment./liliPreheat work pieces prior to welding or bending, using torches or heating furnaces./liliHammer out bulges or bends in metal work pieces./liliDevelop templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information./liliCheck grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments./liliCut, contour, and bevel metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions as specified by blueprints, layouts, work orders, and templates, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knives./liliEstimate consumable materials needed for production and manufacturing and maintain required stocks of materials./liliSet up and use ladders and scaffolding as necessary to complete work./liliUse fire suppression methods in industrial emergencies./liliDirect helpers or apprentices in appropriate tasks;/liliMust maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality;/liliParticipate in site housekeeping;/liliInteract with co-workers in an attentive courteous manner;/liliAdditional duties as directed by management./li/ulpQualifications:/pulliAbility to work independently or as part of a team;/liliExperience: 5 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship;/liliKnowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in industrial construction;/liliAttention to detail;/liliAbility to keep hand and arm steady;/liliBe highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations;/liliGood documentation and record keeping;/liliPreparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports and material requests;/liliCompetency in Permit Required Confined Space;/liliUnderstanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);/liliAppropriate state certification or license;/liliOSHA 10
