Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Development and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will implement Tree Trust's marketing and communications strategy. The role is responsible for clearly and effectively communicating the organization's mission while strengthening its brand and fostering engagement, which includes increasing program participation, volunteer involvement, donations, and customer sales. The position is responsible for creating and managing marketing and communications content across various platforms, including print and digital media, website management, social media, and public relations. Essential Functions: Content Development & Coordination - 40% Conduct research, interview sources, write, compile, edit, and publish content for both digital and print materials. Capture photographs and videos of events and various subjects while skillfully creating compelling visual stories that also honor participant confidentiality. Customize messaging for diverse audiences such as donors, program participants, community partners, volunteers, corporate partners and customers. Ensure content aligns with Tree Trust's brand standards, tone, and values. Manage content calendars to support coordinated outreach and campaigns. Coordinate cross-channel content distribution to maximize reach and engagement. Digital Communication and Platform Management - 25% Email Marketing: Develop and manage email campaigns using Mailchimp to implement audience segmentation strategies and optimize performance. Social Media: Manage Tree Trust's social media channels create and schedule content (including video editing) to reflect organizational activities and increase visibility for TreeTrust; monitor engagement and adjust strategy as needed; regularly monitor and respond to social media conversations, which may involve weekends and evenings. Website Management: Update and maintain website content using WordPress and/or act as liaison for consultants on website projects; ensure alignment with current programs and brand standards; enhance user experience through layout and imagery updates; track performance to inform strategy. Track and update ongoing reports of website, social media, and email communication activity. Program and Fundraiser Marketing Support - 30% Work with Tree Trust leadership, staff, and external consultants and contractors to integrate consistent communications throughout programs. Ensure consistency of messaging and proper management of Tree Trust brand assets. Develop and deploy multi-channel marketing campaigns (direct mail, email, digital, phone, grassroots) to promote Tree Trust programs. Design and produce marketing collateral using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and Illustrator, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility. General Marketing Support - 5% Proactively provide Tree Trust stories to media and coordinate Tree Trust's response to media inquiries. Manage multimedia content, including photography, video, and digital storytelling. Maintain digital asset library. Assist with community outreach and major events. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills Required: Ability and willingness to demonstrate Tree Trust's core values of Professional, Integrity, Commitment, Resilient, and Stewardship. Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field OR relevant on-the-job experience in lieu of a degree. Passionate about Tree Trust's mission and vision. Experience using graphic design, email marketing, and website design applications. Demonstrated photography/videography experience. Strong attention to detail, with proficiency in verbal and written communication skills, proofreading, and editing. Demonstrated experience with social media use and communications best practices, including, but not limited to, Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. Experienced and comfortable with making formal and informal presentations in a variety of settings. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships. Outgoing, friendly, tactful, and professional. Able to think strategically and solve problems creatively. Able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently with limited supervision. Ability to manage time effectively, multitask, and work with multiple or competing priorities to meet deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, email, and content management systems. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to pass a motor vehicle record and criminal background check. Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Ads. Basic knowledge and/or practical experience of SEO practices. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, MailChimp, Eventbrite, and WordPress. Work Environment: Indoor office environment; Frequent visits to outdoor and indoor participant worksites. Physical demands: Lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Reach with hands and arms. Standing or sitting for long periods of time. Significant screen viewing and keyboarding/typing time, repetitive movement of hands and fingers. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear.
