If you are a strategic thinker eager to make a significant impact in the fast-paced energy industry, join our team today.Lead the development of renewable natural gas (RNG) projects from initial feasibility through commercial operation, managing complex multi-stakeholder agreements and ensuring successful project delivery within NextEra Energy's clean energy portfolio.This role will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end RNG project development including site assessment, feasibility studies, permitting, interconnection, and providing support through engineering, construction, and commercial operation planning. The Director will collaborate with internal stakeholders consisting of origination, environmental, engineering and construction, project valuation, legal, operations, and business management to ensure that projects are appropriately and sufficiently derisked prior to seeking management approval.The ideal candidate will have expertise in negotiating and structuring complex RNG supply agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and landfill gas rights contracts, along with strong leadership and communication skills to work closely with external stakeholders throughout the development process. The candidate will secure all necessary governmental authorizations, permits, and approvals for facility construction and operation.Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Build and maintain relationships with landfill operators, utilities, pipeline operators, and regulatory agenciesLead negotiations with local distribution pipeline operators and electric utilities for interconnection agreementsCoordinate with legal teams on contract terms, obligations, and dispute resolutionPrepare project approval packages and present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership and other senior-level stakeholdersCollaborate with engineering teams on facility design including gas collection, processing, and interconnection systemsPosition Specific Preferred Qualifications:3+ years of experience in development of RNG projects, or renewable fuels project development7+ years of experience in the energy sectorProven experience in deploying and scaling new technologies or executing on $100MM+ energy infrastructure projectsKnowledge of carbon credit markets and environmental attribute tradingPrevious experience with landfill operations and waste-to-energy projectsDeep understanding of RNG production processes, landfill gas collection, and natural gas pipeline interconnectionsKnowledge of environmental regulations affecting landfill operations and gas processing facilitiesFamiliarity with power generation equipment conversion and electrical interconnection requirementsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseBachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline and Master's Degree in Business AdministrationLocation: Based in Juno Beach with travel requirements up to 50%This role offers the opportunity to drive NextEra Energy's leadership in the growing RNG sector while contributing to our clean energy transition goals.
