Senior Capital Project CoordinatorSeattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.Seattle City Light's Project Delivery Division is currently seeking two (2) Senior Capital Project Coordinators to work in Strategic Capital Programs.Senior Project Managers within Strategic Capital Programs drive major capital investments to the utility's infrastructure, from early concept to final delivery and closeout. Strategic Capital Programs manage challenging, complex, publicly and politically sensitive projects often in coordination with regional inter-agency efforts.These positions will report to the Strategic Capital Programs Manager 3.Strategic Capital Programs: Project Managers in these positions are expected to "Take Action to Safely Deliver Projects" that are complex and publicly/politically sensitive, from early conception to ultimate delivery. Assigned Projects could include Key Customer Switchgear Replacement and Upgrades, Substation Transformer Replacement Program, City Light Facilities Replacements and Upgrades, City Light Security Projects, City Light and Interdepartmental Fleet Electrification, Grid Modernization Projects, Underground Cable Replacement Program Projects, Maritime Transportation Electrification Program (MARTEP) Projects, Denny Substation Program's Denny-Massachusetts Transmission Line Project, Pole Replacement Program projects, potential projects at City Light's Hydropower Facilities, new Substations and/or Transmission Lines, and many more. This position may also be used to prepare long-term strategic capital improvement plans. The project manager leads teams and works closely with field units, engineering, environmental, finance, and management personnel to coordinate planning, design, construction and close out phases. The project manager also interacts with outside agencies, executive and legislative staff, consultants, contractors, and the public to plan and coordinate work. Incumbent would be responsible for development of scopes of work, cost estimates, budgets, contracting, schedule, tracking, reporting, and meeting project plans to achieve ultimate customer service and project delivery for assigned projects and programs.Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of four years project or construction management or related experience and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).Work Environment/Physical Demands:Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.License, Certification and Other Requirements: You must hold a current valid state issued driver's license from any US state to be verified prior to start date. Out of state license holders will be required to obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.Desired Qualifications: You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:5 years of combined experience in electrical engineering design, civil engineer design, construction management or project management or related experience.Experience with a government organization and/or utility is strongly desiredExcellent interpersonal skillsExperience working with engineers, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.Experience working with government agencies.Experience working with a diverse and multicultural environment.Experience with or certification in alternative Public Works delivery methods, such as Progressive Design Build, Design Build, and/or General/Construction Manager (GCCM).Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
