If youre a Drafting and Design Engineering Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Electro-Mechanical Systems (EMS) Drafting and Design Manager reports to the Engineering Director and oversees the activities of the drafting and design resources reporting up through Niles and Krakow EMS engineering sites covering products in our motors, sensors, actuation and pilot controls product lines. The role is based out of our world class Niles, IL facility which is home to both our primary engineering development center and our primary manufacturing center for these precision aerospace products./ppWhat You Will Be Doing/pulliMaintains and improves a highly effective and well-skilled staff including full-time, intern, and contract workers, to carry out actions to complete planned objectives. This involves utilizing the talent management system, completing review process and salary planning, maintaining and executing a training matrix, and supporting staffing of the group to meet business demands and objectives/liliResponsible for creating, maintaining and improving design tools, drafting standards, and workflows within the confines of Woodwards Product Life Cycle (PLC) process that result in high quality and compliant products. This also includes integration of evolving CAD software solutions./liliImplements and supports continuous improvement initiatives to improve product development velocity and cost efficiency to meet project and group goals/liliUtilizes his or her group as well as the full extended enterprise to improve the customer-perceived value of products through the use of structure and best practice methods (risk analysis, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Lean, dimensional analysis, formal problem solving, DOE, Taguchi, etc.). Anticipates, identifies and resolves project risks/liliEstimates, budgets, and tracks team workload to assign resources as required to achieve business objectives/liliDevelops budget to support profit planning activities and manages within the approved budget constraints/li/ulpWhat We Are Looking For/pulliBachelors Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required/liliMasters degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred/lili6 to 8 years of Engineering experience in aerospace or closely related field/liliGreenbelt/Lean experience/liliPrevious Management experience/liliCAD system and Drafting Standards experience/li/ulpThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
