Sr. Production Supervisor 2nd ShiftWe currently have an opportunity for a 2nd shift Sr Production Supervisor to lead a highly skilled manufacturing group at our Torrance, California location. In this position, you will be responsible for the high-quality assembly and test of precision Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) vacuum electronic components for commercial and government satellite applications; this requires meeting extremely high manufacturing standards with challenging lead times and cost considerations.ResponsibilitiesManagement and training of hourly employeesSupporting development and implementation of Lean process improvement plansProviding accurate production status updates to Operations management, Program Management, Engineering, and downstream production areas.Ensure all work is completed on time and to specificationResponsible for mentoring, leading and supervising employeesSupervise the production flow within their respective areas and ensure safety and the efficiency of the entire shop floorAssess the work performance of employees against clearly established expectations and identify areas that need improvement (provide documented coaching where necessary)Work with technicians, manufacturing engineers, test engineers and quality teams to resolve reoccurring nonconformance issuesEnsure that business goals, deadlines and performance standards are metCoordinate with engineering and other departments to minimize production interruptionsSchedule risk identification and mitigationCollaborate with manufacturing and design engineers for development teardownsPerform root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plansReduction of downtime for product and personnelLead efforts to transition products from engineering development to full rate productionReview work instructions to ensure shop floor tech's have accurate and complete instructions and if necessary, recommend changesMeet tight production schedules to achieve high-rate productionTrain and onboard newly hired employees to make sure they understand their rolesDrive shop floor culture, enforce systems and corporate policiesDevelop, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing system policies, and proceduresMonitor labor hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans and strong time management with staffCapacity planning of equipment and personnelConduct stand-up meetings with employees and management of area metricsQualificationsBachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment - preferably with manufacturing and testing of precision RF and electronic products.PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Demonstrated leadership skills are necessary, with previous supervisory experience highly preferred.Must be able to interpret detailed engineering drawings and associated assembly instructions.Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.Ability to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.Previous experience working in a RF test environment.Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems, such as Infor LN, is a plus.Experience in a union environment is beneficial.Lean manufacturing training and experience is a plus.Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environmentExcellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracySafety training and/or safety certificationsExperience monitoring, tracking and continually improving the total cost equationExperience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methodsExperience solving manufacturing problems related to incapable processes and or designsDemonstrated record of high-performanceMust be able to obtain a security clearanceStellant Systems is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
