This role will be responsible for supervising a team of technicians ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. The role holder’s strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities will contribute to the success of the shop and the satisfaction of our customers.


About the Role:

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. Certifications in the field of welding, machining, materials as related to fabrication. Overall 20+ Years (with core experience handling full pack of a rotating shop) in a manufacturing/repair position. Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental guidelines.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of technicians or mechanics, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Should be familiar with laser tools for alignment of turbines or similar rotating equipment's.
  • Thorough Knowledge on disassembly and re-assembly of rotating machinery including inspection, failure analysis, and reporting
  • Proficient in workshop machining, i.e. manual and CNC turning, milling, surface grinding, etc
  • Thorough knowledge in component strip-downs, inspection, failure analysis, including component repairs, servicing and testing
  • Final inspection and detailed measurement (including engineering sketches) of rotating equipment and components preparation and packing for dispatch, stock management Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair projects, ensuring that resources, equipment, and materials are available and utilized efficiently.
  • Maintain and update service records, including work orders, repair logs, and customer information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and clean working environment for both employees and customers.
  • Collaborate with other departments or teams, such as parts procurement or customer service, to facilitate smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills to improve shop operations.
  • Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues or problems.
  • Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools, including diagnostic equipment and hand tools & complete workshop duties
  • Thorough working to company QA (Including NDT etc), EOHS and administrative procedures and client operating practices
