COTSWORKS seeks a Quality Engineer to support our unique and growing Mil/Aero market for in-house designed and manufactured optoelectronic products and solutions.


The Quality Engineer supports the manufacturing operation by ensuring that products meet customer expectations and that all proper procedures are followed and documented during manufacturing processes. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This job is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Director of Quality Management Systems and works onsite at our Cleveland-area office. Due to classified work at our facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. citizenship (No Green card or Visa) for consideration for a position at COTSWORKS, INC.


COTSWORKS, INC. designs and manufactures rugged optical components and subsystems to operate in harsh environments. Products are utilized worldwide in commercial and military aerospace, tactical, oil and gas, and other industrial markets. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility produces over 100,000 mission-critical rugged optoelectronic and interconnect products yearly. The company maintains a quality program with ISO 9100:2015 + AS9100D Certification and ATEX Compliance.


Your tasks may include the following:

  • Executes established quality system requirements, promotes continuous process improvement, and advances quality programs that support the company’s business plan.
  • Performs First Article Inspections of complex assemblies to comply with customer and AS9102 requirements.
  • Participates in internal audits, AS audits, customer audits, and source inspections.
  • Participates in the supplier rating and audit system, internal material review board activity, and issues corrective action requests.
  • Performs all tasks and assignments in compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provides training and direction to Quality staff members, production technicians, and front office personnel on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Develops effective relationships within the organization to provide professional quality assurance support to Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to serve our customers and promote our products and services.


Qualification requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, combined with training, is required.
  • AS9100 Internal Auditor accreditation is required to meet auditor competence as defined in AS9104:2022.
  • ASQ Certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Engineer) are preferred.
  • Possesses practical, real-life experience with implementing and using an AS9100-certified system in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with standard office productivity tools, equipment, and software (i.e., Microsoft Suite, DISCUS FAI).
  • Competent in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly detail-oriented, demonstrating excellent analytical, technical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Customer-oriented with the ability to build relationships while working with diverse groups, internally and externally, in a collaborative manner.
