Position Title: Control Systems Engineer

Location: Pasadena, TX

Company Overview: Our client is a leading chemical manufacturer based in Pasadena, TX, known for its commitment to innovation and excellence in process control. We are seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Position Summary: The Control Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for process control at our chemical plant. This full-time, direct hire position offers a competitive salary ranging from $140k to $170k per year, plus a performance-based bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, procure, implement, and maintain all DCS process control systems used at our facility.
  • Develop and implement new DCS and PLC configurations for process control, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Modify existing DCS and PLC configurations as needed to enhance process control capabilities.
  • Edit DCS and PLC operating parameters in response to requests from Operations personnel, ensuring seamless integration with plant operations.
  • Maintain service agreements for IEC equipment, overseeing service work to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure functionality of daily reports generated by the process data historian and other systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.
  • Maintain data and system backups, overseeing backup and recovery functions to safeguard critical information.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all systems, ensuring accessibility and clarity for future reference.
  • Monitor and maintain process controllers, communications, and I/O equipment to prevent disruptions to plant operations.
  • Monitor and maintain process control Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays and Human Interface Stations (HIS), optimizing usability and reliability.
  • Lead process instrumentation projects from design to implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop construction packages and oversee construction activities for instrumentation, electrical, and control (IEC) projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to project engineering personnel, offering insights into equipment, labor, cost, and construction considerations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; non-degreed candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Prior field experience in instrumentation and electrical systems, particularly in an industrial setting, is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and apply new technologies to enhance process control capabilities.
  • Strong commitment to company values, with a focus on safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in supervising instrument and electrical project work, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documenting software revisions and system configurations.
