Lifeguard PositionThe Lifeguards will work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, Pool Manager and Assistant Managers and are responsible for providing a safe environment. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the Community Pool facility by using attentive, conscientious and courteous behavior on the job. Lifeguard duties include but are not limited to, supervising all swimming and deck areas, enforcing all facility policies and performing cleaning duties, which include facility and grounds maintenance. Lifeguards are expected to have a professional and mature attitude. Pool season runs from late May through August.Supervise patrons and provide a safe environmentPerform lifeguarding duties: rescues and assists as necessaryPerform First Aid and CPR as necessaryKnow, enforce and adhere to all policies and rules of the facilityKnow and follow established emergency proceduresWork cooperatively and as a team with supervisors and other staffPerform daily cleaning duties and additional cleaning as assigned by the Manager or Assistant ManagerRequired attendance at staff in-service training and meetingsComplete accident report forms, rescue forms and incident formsPerform all other duties as assigned by the Manager or Assistant ManagerJOB QUALIFICATIONSLifeguard Training and CertificationFirst Aid CertificationCPR for the Professional Rescuer CertificationKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSThorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding rescue techniquesKnowledge of the principles and practices of facility rules, policies, and proceduresLeadership qualitiesPublic relation skillsMaturity level to understand and recognize the importance of assigned duties and responsibilitiesProfessional, courteous attitude
