A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join their team at one of their schools throughout the 5 boroughs. In this role, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for assessing student's motor skills and developing & implementing goals designed to enhance the student's learning potential.About the Opportunity:Start Date: ASAPAssignment Length: OngoingSetting: School-basedHours: 8am to 2:30pmPatient Population: Pediatric IDDPatient Volume: 10 sessions per dayResponsibilities:The Occupational Therapist (OT) will:Make observations during preliminary screening of new students, and/or ongoing evaluations of students enrolled in the schoolWrite a full description of the child's performance and behavior during evaluation referencing sensory processing, perceptual skills and/or deficitsMake suggestions for approaches and activities that might enhance the student's abilitiesTake part in developing staff development and parent workshop opportunities around the development of gross motor, fine motor, and perceptual skills, and related underlying sensory and motor functionsDevelop a series of developmentally-graded activities based on evaluation, designed to improve sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, and perceptual skillsCarry out medical prescriptions for OTMaintain mandated documentation of treatment and progress (e.g., individual treatment session and quarterly progress notes, Related Service Attendance, etc.)Submit a written report of the progress of the children at the end of each school yearMake recommendations for IEP goals and participate as required in IEP conferencesMaintain OT equipment and supplies, and recommend ordering them as required by IEP mandates or needed clinicallyPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:1+ year of experience working with the Pediatric populationBachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Occupational TherapyNYS Occupational Therapist (OT) licenseSolid assessment, clinical, and documentation skillsPatient orientedGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organized
