Position Overview
The Project Engineer (Renewable Engineering) will perform engineering activities to support project development and assist with the technical design and evaluation of utility-scale solar projects in Invenergy's target markets.
Responsibilities:
- Define project constraints and buildable area considering existing infrastructure, topography, hydrology, and subsurface ground conditions
- Prepare conceptual project layouts. Optimize layouts to maximize project value.
- Analyze available meteorological datasets and apply long-term correlation to assess project resource characteristics
- Estimate project annual energy production, energy uncertainty, energy probability values, and time-based production profiles
- Conduct site visits to assess site suitability, participate in landowner meetings and community outreach events, and participate in monthly construction meetings.
- Assist with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts
- Support the preparation of project sales proposals
- Support project financing by responding to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions
- Interface with the Project Management, Project Electrical Engineering, and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline
- 3+ years of engineering or related technical discipline experience
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree is a plus.
- Renewable Engineering experience is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
- Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest in renewable energy
- Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds
- Familiarity with resource and energy modeling software including PVsyst and SAM
- Familiarity with site design tools including AutoCAD and GIS software
- Knowledge of meteorological data sources, long term correlation methods, and other statistical analysis
- Knowledge of energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE
