Warehouse SpecialistThe Adult Detention Center (ADC) is seeking an energetic, positive, and reliable Warehouse Specialist to join our team. This position will support warehouse and inmate commissary operations, including assisting in receiving, storing, and distributing products. The ideal candidate will work efficiently and accurately and demonstrate a desire to bring value to the team.The ADC is a well-established agency in Prince William County, VA. We provide safety and security for our staff and the individuals in our care while protecting the residents of Prince William County. This position will involve direct contact with inmates housed at the facility.About This Role:Under the leadership of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Specialist will:Assists in receiving, inspecting, organizing, and storing incoming supplies and warehouse inventory.Accurately pulls and packages inmate housing unit supply orders for distribution to various departments within the facility.Leads and directs inmate workers assigned to warehouse duties, ensuring they complete the work assigned within the timelines established.Receives, verifies, and distributes the weekly inmate commissary orders, fulfilled by the agency's external commissary vendor, to inmates within the housing units in accordance with facility schedules and guidelines.Fulfills Indigent inmate supply orders as needed.Receives and screens incoming and outgoing packages, including verifying the contents to order documents, and ensuring proper documentation is furnished to support receipts.Maintains accurate inventory records and ensure all receipts and issuances are properly accounted for.Maintains a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines and policies.Monitors inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor.Contributes ideas for improving warehousing procedures and overall operational efficiency.Adheres to all correctional facility policies regarding contraband, inmate interaction, and secure storage.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED.2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations.Skills:Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations, package handling, and inventory processes.Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.Ability to document and complete recordkeeping required to support audits as required.Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, cross-functional work groups, vendors, customers, supervisors, managers, and executive leadership).Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.Ability to receive, lift and carry up to 70 pounds.Ability to drive standard size vans and utility trucks, operate a forklift and pallet jack.Special Requirements:Must pass a criminal history background investigation to include fingerprint and driving record check. Must pass a polygraph exam. Pass pre-employment physical. Must have a valid driver's license.Physical Demands/Frequency: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Environmental Working Conditions: Work is performed in an inherently stressful environment and involves some degree of risk to personal safety; requires direct contact with inmates in a public safety correctional setting.Work Schedule:40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, or 7:00 am to 3:00 pm as approved.Position is deemed essential to respond in emergencies, inclement weather.Occasional need to work before or after regular working hours, including on holidays and weekends.FLSA-Nonexempt position.Starting Salary Range:$21.14 to $32.17 Hourly (Minimum to Midpoint)The above position description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.The position description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and the requirements of the job change.Prince William County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
