What You‘ll Do in This Position

The primary purpose of the Fire Protection Program Support Specialist is to ensure compliance, implementation, and oversight of the fire protection program across the Savannah River Site for the management and operations (M&O) contractor. This position will be responsible for assessments, training, trending, interfacing, reporting, code interpretation/implementation, and improvements with the fire protection program.

Responsible for the following:

* Interface with management, fire protection engineers, fire protection design authority engineers, fire protection coordinators, and fire protection program personnel to address program related issues and new initiatives
* Develop and complete assessments that clearly document execution of the site Fire Protection requirements
* Analyze, review, assess, and extract relevant information from assessments, program documents, procedures and technical reports
* Perform causal analysis using approved site-level sources in effectively implementing root cause based remediation and pro-active based resolution
* Support development, maintenance, and administration of Fire Protection related databases regarding S/RID and NFPA requirements including, but not limited to, the Fire Protection Database System (FPDS)
* Establish and maintain metrics, through the use of graphs, charts, pivot tables, etc., to measure facility/programmatic execution of the fire protection program requirements
* Monitor regulation changes to NFPA Codes and Standards, CFR‘s, DOE Orders, etc. that affect the fire protection program
* Interpret NFPA Codes and Standards, CFR‘s, DOE Orders, etc. and apply in field applications
* Identify improvement opportunities in the fire protection program implementation and execution
* Prepare and/or Issue written correspondence and reports related to fire protection program objectives, issues, discrepancies, and new initiatives
* Monitor fire protection impairments to ensure timely response and prompt resolution of the deficiencies
* Conduct periodic meetings with Fire Protection Personnel to discuss fire protection changes, training, and lessons learned
* Assist Facility Management in the resolution of fire safety related issues
* Ensures that strategy and objectives defined by the Level 3 and Level 4 manager are implemented
* Ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for select Fire Protection topics
* Define work to be accomplished by program contributors to meet objectives
* Ability to instruct/present at the fire protection program‘s Fire Safety Course and other fire-related courses
* Work with Fire Protection Coordinators and other organizations to conduct inspections to promote fire safety
* Support development, updates, and coordination of the Fire Protection engineering schedule

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. Qualifications We Require

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Other Qualifications

Comprehensive level of knowledge and understanding of various aspects of fire protection is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance if required.

Qualifications We Desire

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Certified Instructor qualification is preferred
- ICC Fire Inspector Certification or equivalent is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of S/RIDs, site policies and procedures, and DOE Orders (420.1C) and Standards (1066) which impact the functional area or facility supported is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of pertinent NFPA codes, DOE Orders and Standards
- Previous experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred
- Understanding and proficiency with business tools, including Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate is advanced with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, and proficient with Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio with the ability to quickly learn other tools as necessary
