Pediatric Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a licensed Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of OT experience post grad school. This particular position will require a fairly independent and confident OT with strong pediatric experience.


Candidates with advanced trainings and certifications in various areas of pediatrics are preferred. At Sensational Steps, we support the DIRFloortime approach and specialize in sensory integration, feeding, listening therapy, and handwriting. The DIR model is truly at the heart of our practice and it is vital that our therapists feel comfortable having a caregiver participate in therapy and also offering parent education to support carryover. We would like for our therapist to have experience in a couple of these areas, but we are also excited to add therapists that have additional interests and specializations


We would like to find someone that can work 4 days per week. Co-treats and mentorship will be provided. The therapist can ultimately decide how they would like to schedule their days as long as they are able to see 35 clients with afterschool hours each day. Please note each client is seen for 45 minutes and employees receive 15 minutes of documentation time after each treatment session.


Travel: Local in-home, school-based, or virtual sessions are possible but rare/limited

Responsibilities: Therapists will be responsible for completing comprehensive evaluations, providing individualized and child-led interventions, providing parent education/coaching, and creating meaningful home programs including sensory diets. School screenings and consultations are also possible.


ABOUT US:

At Sensational Steps, we utilize a child-led, family-centered, and relationship-based approach to promote a child's independence through the use of play. Sensational Steps provides quality, individualized 1:1 OT and speech therapy at our Spring Lake office and within the home/school setting. We recently opened a second location in Kentwood providing OT and feeding therapy. We also work with several schools in the area.


Common diagnoses we treat include: Anxiety, Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Cognitive Disorders, Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Fine Motor Delays, Learning Disabilities, Pediatric Feeding Disorder, Prematurity, and Sensory Processing Disorder.


Job Requirements

  • Current OT Michigan licensure
  • NBCOT Certification
  • Two years of experience as an OTR
  • Pediatric experience
  • Must have driver's license and be willing to travel between local clients/schools (minimally)
  • Afterschool availability

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour


Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
