ROLE SUMMARY:


The Manufacturing Purchasing Specialist is responsible for day-to-day procuring materials, components, and services essential for the manufacturing process. This role involves negotiating prices, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery for a targeted set of material / component categories. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize purchasing processes, reduce costs, and maintain inventory levels within their purchasing scope.



ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze material needs and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolving issues and building strong relationships
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiation and process improvement
  • Optimize MRP parameters to minimize costs and inventory for targeted component categories
  • Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities and supplier performance, developing supplier improvement plans where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven track record of purchasing execution, improving availability while reducing inventory
  • Successful development of material / component forecasts using available (imperfect) data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory coordination, or similar roles in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s degree in supply chain management or vocational training in similar field preferred
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles a plus



COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Strong working proficiency with applicable software such as MSOffice
  • Strong working proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite)
