Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer.ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Provides complete, comprehensive outpatient care for dental/oral conditions to include oral examination and treatment of conditions, including follow-up of problems detected.Instructs assigned dental assistants.- Assists Director of Dental Services and/or Chief Clinical Officer with competencies and clinical evaluation of clinical staff.- Responsible to make appropriate referrals to internal disciplines and/or external resources/agencies for additional services required.- Prescribes medications for patients for treatment of conditions, as indicated.- Provides dental consultation to other providers as needed.- Responsible for accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation.- Provide appropriate follow-up with dental support staff to include telephone/written correspondence (e.g. inform patients of test results).- Assures integration of patient education into all treatment phases.- Participates in dental outreach activities as assigned.- Provides clear written and oral communication to patients/guardians and employees.- Participates in an on-call system for after-hours care.- Ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.- Assures that the dental policies are current and accurate.- Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS- Full licensure to practice dentistry in the State of Kansas.- Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry.- Completion of an accredited general practice residency program, preferred.- A strong community/public health orientation, preferred.- Commitment to serving the underserved.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES- Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base- Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.- Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.- Must be computer literate and must be proficient with the organizations electronic health record.- Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.- Provide customer service in accordance to the organizations mission.- Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organizations policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.
