We are scaling quickly and looking for passionate people to protect the next million familiesAbout the RoleAre you passionate about building best in class underwriting technology? The role seeks a visionary with ability to communicate across departments effectively and bring ideas to life. You'll need to partner with end-users of Ethos systems and engineers to create a constant and virtuous cycle of improvements on our underwriting ecosystem.Duties and Responsibilities:Ongoing analysis and monitoring of rules engine and workbench performanceContinued review of evidence and synthesization of underwriting data from all sourcesWork with Head of Underwriting Strategies to assess business risk for changes to underwriting guidelinesCreation of specific recommendations and action plans to drive automated underwriting decisions and process improvement across underwriting and case managementAct as both an owner and contributor to multiple projects and initiativesSolidify protocols for rule and system enhancementsMaintain appropriate documentation for underwriting criteria, guidelines and workflowsAbility to prioritize system decisions based on business need, business case and ROIServe as underwriting process expert and liaison to work cross-functionally with colleagues and partners in product, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, legal, etcEnsure end-user proficiency with new systems, programs, and applications across departments through onboarding training and regular updatesWork with engineers to serve as a business liaison in order to efficiently integrate new data, models, partners programs, and applications as the need arises.Qualifications and Skills:5-10+ years of life new business underwriting and case management experienceExtensive experience with underwriting rules engines and rules managementComfortable working in an agile environment and leveraging systems such as JIRAAn understanding of data and models in the underwriting processThe ability to communicate results and needs among multiple partiesA record of identifying opportunities and quickly delivering solutionsDesire to be a team player in a dynamic environmentAn obsession with the customer and ability to challenge the status quoThe US national base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $212,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
