This position is also responsible for sorting out dirty laundry, loading and unloading washing machine and dryer and folding center linens./ppResponsible To: Laundry Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor/ph3Qualifications/h3ulliMust be able to read Standard English./liliMust be able to operate standard and commercial laundry machinery./liliMust be able to understand and follow instructions./liliMust be able to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, families, fellow employees and visitors./li/ulh3Physical Demands/h3ulliAble to be on feet 7-8 hours a day/liliAble to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb, depending on job/liliAble to lift 20 to 25 pounds frequently/liliAble to lift 50 to 75 pounds occasionally/liliAble to move heavy (75 to 100 pound) furniture occasionally/liliAble to see, hear and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibility/liliAble to work with standard cleaning chemicals/liliAble to pull and push wet laundry (50 75 pounds) from washing machine./li/ulh3Duties and Responsibilities/h3ulliReport to laundry at the assigned time and gather dirty laundry as instructed./liliLoad washers with dirty linens and prepare linen for morning change./liliKeep dirty linen separate from clean linen at all times./liliCheck water temperature of each washing machine to be sure it is at least 150./liliClean all lint traps in accordance with center policy or at least once per shift./liliCheck levels of laundry detergents, softeners and bleach are checked and that center policy is followed for refilling./liliKeep floors, walls and equipment are kept clean./liliRemove clean laundry from washer and load dryer, making sure that clean laundry does not touch the floor./liliOperate washing machines and dryers are operated in accordance with manufacturers and centers policy and procedures./liliRemoved dry clothes from dryer, fold and store in accordance with center policy./liliInform supervisor of any problems with equipment so that repairs can be made./liliShut down all equipment in laundry in accordance with center policy when fire alarm sounds./liliBe familiar with and follow all federal, state and center policies and procedures./liliWork safely, following proper procedures when using chemical agents./liliClean patient bathrooms including sinks, toilets, tubs and showers/liliEmpty garbage cans in patient rooms, patient bathrooms, activity areas and other areas throughout the center/liliClean patient rooms, including mopping and/or buffing floors, dusting furniture both on top and underneath/liliClean hallways, sweeping up debris, mopping, stripping and buffing following company and center policies and procedures/liliClean walls, furniture and equipment, as needed, to provide a clean pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors/liliWork safely, following proper procedures when using chemical agents/liliFollow established cleaning schedules/liliOther duties which may be assigned from time to time./li/ulpNational HealthCare Corporation is recognized nationwide as an innovator in the delivery of quality care.
