Field Directors - San DiegoWe are currently hiring Deputy Field Directors to join us on an important and exciting petitioning campaign in San Diego, CA. Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of local petitioners who will gather signatures from registered San Diego voters to qualify an initiative for an upcoming election. This position reports to the Lead Field Director.We are hiring immediately for this position in San Diego, with a strong preference for local applicants. The campaign is projected to begin in January and run through the end of March 2026.Management Responsibilities:Work with our recruitment team to find and hire members of the community to work as petitioners and assist voters in carefully and correctly completing the petition.Manage a team of 40 petitioners, setting and driving goals along the wayImplement safety protocolBuild a database of successful locations for gathering signatures from registered voters.Coordinate petitioning sites for your staff, and work with partner groups to avoid overlapping efforts in the field.Go out in the field yourself several days per week to collect petitions, train staff, and drive office goals.Administrative Responsibilities:Work with the HR Director on payroll, onboarding and offboarding staff, and managing state compliance.Monitor and train staff to stay compliant with state signature collection requirementsMaintain accurate inventory of office materials, petition forms and overall office organizationManage the printing, storage and distribution of unique paid circulator petition formsManage staff scheduleProcess and secure physical petition sheets ensuring compliance with legal petitioning guidelinesPrepare signatures for final turn inQualifications:Must haveLeadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team.Eagerness to lead from the front, get into the field and petition several days a week.Canvassing experience, paid or volunteerExtreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.Track record of building inclusive teams.Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.Nice-to-have1-3+ years of experience running paid canvasses or other canvassing operations.Management experienceSalary: The salary range for this position is $1,352 - $1,450 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training.
