The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology
ECE is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School‘s graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at of the Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, on two continents, North America and Europe) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.
Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education: bioengineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetics, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design: and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia.

Job Summary
NEETRAC Research Engineer
The National Electric Energy Testing, Research and Application Center (NEETRAC) is a self-supporting, member-focused, not for profit test, research & applications center that has served the electric industry of North America for over 25 years. The majority of our support is derived from conducting project work for our members (36 companies based in Canada, Mexico and USA).
NEETRAC intends to continue as an impactful, recognized and respected organization providing application, research and testing services. To maintain this momentum, we are looking to recruit flexible, motivated and skilled engineering staff. These skills will enable us to continue engaging with our members to identify and develop projects that they can fund and thereby provide value to their organizations.
The position is for an Research Engineer in the medium and high voltage testing laboratories at NEETRAC. The job is physically located at the NEETRAC Laboratory Campus in Forest Park, GA.
Responsibilities
A successful candidate will undertake a number of Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in multiple projects in parallel.
- Display a thorough understanding of electrical principles.
- Partner with NEETRAC members to develop project proposals from their technical needs.
- Conduct robust and practical experimental programs.
- Undertake laboratory and field testing, in a hands-on role, both individually and as part of a team.
- Recommend project ideas / improvements to Members.
- Undertake the curation and analysis of utility performance / measurement data.
- Undertake travel for Field work, technical interactions with members, as required.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor‘s degree in an engineering discipline, including engineering technology
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
- Good self-prioritization skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a part of a team.
- Solid dissemination skills (speaking, presentation and writing)
- Additional or preferred requirements
- Electrical Engineering or Physics Degree
