Performs specific procedures for the screening and controlling of material used in the processing, manufacture and distribution of blood and plasma products. Conducts complex, analytical or specialized testing, assuring all applicable regulatory authority requirements are met


Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs, interprets, and troubleshoots laboratory procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability testing and other assays as required. Develops proficiency in laboratory information systems and workflow of samples
  • Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures. Analyzes test results against set controls
  • Completes maintenance and quality control per standard operating procedures. Works within the current cGMP guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab.
  • Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution
  • Follows all safety regulations, EHS policies and rules. Maintains clean, safe work environment
  • Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment. Performs and documents troubleshooting and calibration of instructions. Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Notifies Supervisor of unresolved instrument issues
  • Other job-related duties as assigned, including training in multiple departments.


Requirements:

  • Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT), licensure in the state of Tennessee preferred
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • Requires intermediate to strong computer skills
  • Communicates effectively within the department and with other lab departments
