POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title:  Speech and Language Pathologist School/Department:  Designated School Supervisor:   Director of Special Education, Principal, and Assistant Principal Terms of Employment:  Per Classified Conditions of Employment Essential Duties: Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates. Exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students. Create a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that promotes students’ academic and social-emotional growth. Plan learning activities that are aligned with Indiana Academic Standards. Implement learning activities using Corporation-adopted curricular materials that promote active student learning. Assess and monitor students’ learning to provide responsive instruction. Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with students’ parents and families. Continuously strive to learn and develop new skills to promote student learning. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications and Characteristics: The education and educator license or permit required by the Indiana Department of Education A positive, student-centered, and solution-focused attitude towards education and students The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with others Effective verbal and written communication skills Effective organizational skills The ability to manage a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment The ability to work with diverse groups of students The ability to enforce corporation and school rules and policies The ability to adhere to strict confidentiality policies The ability to use various computer and technology resources A past record clear of criminal activity and child abuse or neglect Working Conditions: The duties of this position are performed in a classroom environment.  Persons are required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch.  Additionally, persons may need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, and depth perception.  Noise levels in the working environments may be moderately loud or loud.  Occasionally, persons are required to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.  Persons are also required to maintain emotional composure under stress.
