The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. Key responsibilities include reconciling accounts, ensuring correct eliminations for affiliated entities and assisting with audits. This person will also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.Essential Job Functions and Associated TasksMaintain accurate financial records for each of the affiliated entities ensuring adherence to established policies and proceduresPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reportingEnsure accounting methods are under GAAP and that governmental reporting requirements are followed accuratelyReconcile bank accounts utilizing Yardi automated functionalityMaintain supporting schedules for assets, liabilities, and depreciationEnsure proper documentation and backup for all journal entriesInvestigate budget variances in the financial statementsFacilitate relationships with groups around the organization and assist the Controller with providing financial analysis to those groups.Act as a resource for senior management during budget preparationPrepare audit schedules at fiscal year-endAssist in audit consolidation and elimination of affiliated entitiesCoordinate the completion of special accounting projects for managementDevelop and implement corporate accounting policies and processesDefine and comply with all established internal control proceduresMaintain a current and accurate operations manual for corporate accounting, including drafting and revising policies and procedures as necessaryEnsure established goals and/or operational objectives are obtained each yearEstablish and maintain effective professional working relationships with internal departments, staff, vendors, and outside agenciesOrganizational leader and resource for best practice use of Accounting related systems: YARDI, PowerBI, Elevate, Concur, internet banking applicationsUtilize full functionality of Yardi to maintain accounting recordsUse YARDI for fixed asset accounting and reportingProduce ad hoc reports when necessary in YARDI and PowerBIProvide training to various staff upon requestProduce monthly financial reports in YARDITest and implement new YARDI applications and other software toolsAssist with troubleshooting problems and finding solutionsOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of GAAPStrong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and financial reportingExperience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP Concur, Yardi) and advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, macros)Proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting with the ability to interpret complex dataExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracyStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, to present financial information to non-financial stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentEducation and Other RequirementsMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or similar5+ years of experience with all aspects of accrual accounting through financial statements and audit preparationExperience working with consolidations and multiple sets of booksAdvanced Excel skills: VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot table, and macrosAbility to maintain tight and effective internal control proceduresPossess a high level of accuracy and detail orientationDemonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, genders, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languagesAbility to work independently and cross-functionallyExcellent customer service, organization, and both written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage multiple duties while adhering to established deadlinesPreferred RequirementsExperience in Non-ProfitExperience with Yardi (ERP system)Experience in property management or property accountingExperience in Public AccountingCertified Public Accounting (CPA) license
