Position Summary

Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will answer the phone; place incoming calls & page codes/disasters immediately and professionally always using proper scripting. Must maintain confidentiality of information obtained on the job.

Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate. Answers the phone promptly using proper scripting and always with a smile

Pages authorized personnel over the intercom system, announces closing of visiting hours and other notifications, communicate with security guards over the base radio, contacts employees over beeper system.

Maintains up-to-date on call sheet and process in computer correctly. Maintain list of inpatients with patients room number and current computer listing.

Transmits Code Blue, Cardio-Pulmonary, Code 44 Stat, Disaster Plan, Fire Alarms, or other Emergency calls; respond by taking required action to assist in resolving the situation.

Places long distance calls for authorized personnel and maintains related records. Assists in all outgoing credit cards, collect and third party calls. Answers questions of callers according to hospital policy and procedure.

Operates multiple position telephone switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing calls and perform miscellaneous hospital communications. Reports any alarms on telephone equipment, phones out of order, and maintains related records.

Must be able to foster positive relationships with co-workers and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing work demand

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent Required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Skills: Auditory skills, effective verbal & communication skills, hand/finger dexterity, critical thinker, ability to type 30 WPM with high degree of accuracy

Requires ability to speak and hear clearly. Requires prolonged sitting.

Minimum Work Experience

Three (3) months on the job training.
