Senior Buyer

Nesco Resource is working with a client looking for a Senior Buyer:

Summary:

Coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
• Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
• Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity. Including the development of new sources.
• Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
• Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
• Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
• Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
• Maintain effective communication with supervisor, person requisitioning supplies, vendors and suppliers, Purchasing Department staff members and other departments or plants as appropriate.
• Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
• Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
• Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost effective manner.
• Supervises employees, organizes work and handles issues in the absence of the Purchasing Manager.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university; 3+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Computer Skills: BPCS Inventory software, order processing systems and MS Office software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: APICS, C.P.M., CPSM, or equivalent certification preferred, but not required

Other Qualifications: Occasional travel to meet vendors, go to trade shows, or visit another site plant.
