We have an immediate opening for an Automation Systems Engineer at our aerospace location in Rockford, ILL. The primary purpose of this role is to execute automation systems within the factory by collaborating with plant leadership, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain, and the automation team to execute both development and deployment.
Duties & responsibilities include:
- Incorporate advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies as well as identify opportunities for process improvements via lean techniques.
- Utilization of all of the various technologies including but not limited to C/C++, C#, Java, Python, Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio etc..
- Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks, improving workflow across departments
- Analyze system requirements to create effective automation designs
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate automated solutions seamlessly and to deliver effective solutions in Robotics, Digital Tools for Smart Factory, Optical, and Assisted Reality
- Execute thorough testing protocols to validate automation system functionality
- Continuously evaluate and update automation systems for efficiency
Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education and experience:
- Bachelors degree in STEM related discipline.
- 5 years professional experience as it relates to engineering, manufacturing, operations and/or automation.
- Demonstrated experience in automation systems design, development, deployment, validation and/or sustainment in a factory setting with emphasis in electrical controls including, automation systems, programming (torque controllers, robots, vision systems, PLCs, etc.)
- Experience with process integration and electromechanical / mechatronic systems
- Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A).
- Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
- Ability to lead/manage engineers and technical trades on project teams
- Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- First-hand experience from driving Change Management projects and track record of being able to deliver results
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 or equivalent
- Due to the nature of the work, you must be a US Citizen
