The supervisor is responsible for coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices, and monitoring the performance of chaplains in their assigned region. The supervisor serves as the primary contact for bereavement and decedent affairs policies and practices in their assigned region. The SC&B supervisor contributes to other operational decisions and tasks related to services throughout the CHCO System of Care. The supervisor provides oversight of patient care and is responsible for ensuring that appropriate care is provided by Spiritual Care staff. The SC&B supervisor provides clinical and administrative support as needed. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.1. Provides clinical leadership expertise. Leads department team members in delivering exceptional high-quality, compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, team members, and the broader community. Conducts needs assessments and provides oversight to ensure care is responsive, coordinated, and effective. Monitors service delivery, engagement and impact of team interventions2. Assesses the source of internal strength (spiritual or faith tradition) for patients, families, and team members. Responds to spiritual care needs when dealing with illness, trauma, crisis, end of life, stress, and loss. Accurately documents interventions, outcomes, and services provided.3. Supervises day-to-day operations of team members including, assigning and reviewing work, provides both on the job and formal training, facilitates onboarding and training, and supporting professional development. Fosters a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning. 4. Establishes and tracks key performance metrics for department. Collaborates with the Manager of Spiritual Care to drive excellence in performance delivery, identify areas for growth, and implement evidence-informed improvements. 5. Conducts regular clinical supervision with direct reports to encourage open communication and provide feedback; establishes team communication norms and staff rounding. 6. Demonstrates and fosters a high level of professionalism in all interactions with team members, providers, patients, families, and leadership. 7. Interprets and communicates regulatory standards and hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines to team members and ensures compliance with applicable quality and safety initiatives and practices. 8. Acts as a working supervisor to assist with patient, family, and team member interactions and facilitating care plans; remains available to provide clinical coverage as needed. 9. Responds promptly to operational or service concerns, engaging diverse perspective to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. Promotes equity, inclusion, and team collaboration in all decision-making processes.10. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates department team members in collaboration with the Manager of Spiritual Care. Creates a supportive and inclusive environment that develops and supports the full potential of department team members. Monitors expenditures for unit/department and participates in the development of budget recommendations for the whole system of care. 11. Partners with the Team Member Resilience Program Manager to assess opportunities and needs related to team member resilience.12. Collaborates with Bereavement Coordinator to provide assessment and intervention for patients and their families. Assists in the development and implementation of bereavement programs across the system of care. 13. Participates in and leads internal and external departmental collaboration and community partnerships with frontline staffMinimum QualificationsDegreesMaster's Area of StudyDivinity, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, or related field; 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education at an ACPE accredited teaching center. ExperienceFour (4) years previous experience in providing chaplaincy in a healthcare setting.
