The day-to-day


Support multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generator products. You'll becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, leading efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, leading qualification efforts for component changes including updating schematics and design information, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, implementing board level design changes through schematics, CAD support, and board checkout.

Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting complex digital systems (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers)
  • Identify and qualify replacements for obsolete parts
  • Schematic/CAD updates relating to results and parts changes (use of Mentor Graphics flow preferred)
  • Produce redlines and release documentation changes affecting product changes
  • Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
  • Knowledge and use of scripting languages, e.g. PERL, PYTHON a plus
  • Work closely with engineering technicians to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problem
  • Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problemsExecute sustaining activities for production and field issues of End Cryptographic Units (ECU), Ethernet Data Encryptors (EDE) and high assurance Cryptographic High Value Product (CHVP)


What you'll need


  • 8+ years’ hardware design or sustaining experience
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers while acting as a leader on multiple projects
  • Foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations
  • Proven ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
  • Working knowledge of standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
  • Familiarity with production related processes and common failure modes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
  • High aptitude for learning new things
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • US Government position. US citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
