Growing, multi-plant plastics extrusion firm is seeking a talented fulltime engineer for an important role as plastics process engineer.


Responsibilities will include designing and upgrading tooling and die profiles for a wide variety of new and existing customers.


You will also be responsible for modification and improvements to plant and extruder processes. Capital plans include the addition of new, state of the art extruders over time with corresponding opportunity to implement, tune and tweak that new equipment.


Duties:

Responsible for new process development and the integration of new materials into existing processes for discrete manufacturing lines. This high visibility role will also support the manufacturing testing and scale-up of new product introductions, implementation and monitoring of scrap reduction programs as well as continuous improvement projects.

· Study and document process capability of new and existing equipment and processes, make recommendations for improving capability. Support production through troubleshooting of processes/equipment that are not meeting requirements and providing technical expertise.

· Study and recommend changes to materials and/or processes as directed.

· Study existing processes and materials and design new/modified processes and materials as needed for new product development and or process improvement.

· Test various processes, products and materials for new products introduction and/or process improvement.


Qualifications:

· BS engineering degree (Plastics, Chemical, Materials, Mechanical or related field)

· 1-4 years of experience in process engineering, design and development, quality assurance or related fields.

· Six Sigma methodology & and advance quality principles and disciplines

· Mechanical/Equipment knowledge

· Analytical skills for troubleshooting

· Technical writing skills, computer skills
