What is LucyTx doing?

Lucy Therapeutics is developing small molecule treatments to improve the lives of patients with devastating mitochondrial diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and Rett syndrome. Our mitochondrial platform has led to the discovery of targets whose modulation can improve central energetic dysfunctions in these diseases and address their complex organ symptomatology with the potential for selectively in diseased vs. healthy cells. We are looking for scientists who are curious - curious about the world around them, curious about how things work and how to solve problems. As a Senior/Principal Research Associate you will contribute to the design and execution of in vitro laboratory experiments and data analysis/interpretation required for advancing our drug discovery programs and expanding our mitochondrial platform. What will you be doing at LucyTx?

  • Devise and conduct in vitro assays employing human and rodent cell-based/derived systems.
  • Actively contribute thoughts and ideas, design experiments, and implement new protocols to advance drug discovery programs.
  • Coordinate planning and acquisition of study materials, assay validation, troubleshoot assays and independently conduct rigorous data analysis and interpretation.
  • Independently contribute to research projects, communicating data, results and ideas with pharmacology team and aligning activities with team priorities and company goals. 
  • Create slides and conduct presentations highlighting assay development, experimental results and next steps at lab meetings; Learn and successfully present to different stakeholders including project and lab teams
  • Independently gather resources needed to fully execute experiments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in an ELN for all experiments performed in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide scientific support for departmental/company presentations, and other activities as requested.
  • Regularly mine scientific literature for applications and research ideas that can be utilized to advance Lucy Therapeutics platform and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all Lucy Therapeutics corporate policies and environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Independently perform special projects as needed and requested.


What will you bring to LucyTx?  

  • BS or MS in biological sciences with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working on drug discovery programs in neuroscience and preferably mitochondrial focused projects. Track record in Alzheimer’s disease research preferred. 
  • Experience developing assays using such techniques such as reporter assays, viability readouts, imaging, binding assays (such as Duolink, thermal shift) and/or metabolic analyses.
  • Strong cell culture and cell biology techniques required (primary neuron cultures, neuronal cell lines, astrocyte cultures and iPSc differentiation a plus) including qPCR, Western blotting, ELISAs, high-content imaging, and binding assays.
  • Experience with CRISPR, siRNA, transfection/transduction, and/or small molecule compound assessment.
  • Well versed in the use of data analysis and statistical tools (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism).
  • Passion for multi-tasking with ability to prioritize and organize workloads and tasks.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and experience in generating rigorous and reproducible data sets.
  • Problem solver, who is creative and always looking for improvements and solutions.
  • Passion for bringing forward new ideas and approaches, continually integrating knowledge from literature and other data sources.
  • Willingness to ask questions and ability to work well in a team environment including cross-functional/multidisciplinary team settings.
  • Self-starter who actively pursues knowledge and skill development; operates with integrity; values diversity; flexible to contribute to multiple projects as needed; with a respectful sense of humor.
