Irrigation TechnicianThis position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all campus irrigation systems. It will work as part of a team to accomplish goals and objectives. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure. Duties may include:Perform routine and preventative maintenance of systems, tools, equipment and vehicles related to campus irrigationAssist with locating irrigation lines, sprinkler heads and valves when Dig Line requestsCoordinate with various trade groups and contractors as neededMay train or supervise the work of othersOther duties as assignedRequired Experience:One year related to commercial or institutional irrigation systems involving, installation and maintenanceRequired Education:High School Diploma or equivalentRequired Other:Possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehiclesAbility to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation, typically every three weeksAdditional Preferred:Two years of post-secondary education or training in the fields of construction, irrigation systems maintenance and operations, landscape maintenance and operationsTwo additional years of experience related to commercial or institutional irrigation systems, for a total of three yearsExperience operating computerized equipment and computer software for record keeping, email, database entry, photo archiving and irrigation management systemsKnowledge of reclaimed water systems, codes and regulationsAbility to operate a variety of irrigation/landscape equipment such as: loader, backhoe, grader, roller, excavator, trencher, forklift, skid steer loaders, mowers, etc.Knowledge of low voltage systems used in irrigationPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:Ability to: lift and carry or otherwise move up to 60 pounds in a routine, repetitive mannerBend, stoop, crawl, twist, dig, climb ladders and walk throughout the workdayWork on uneven and slick surfacesWork in confined spacesWork in inclement weather conditionsWork safely in high traffic/congested pedestrian areasWear personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing dutiesDegree Requirement:Listed degree qualification is required at time of applicationFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEmployee Category: ClassifiedPay Range: Commensurate with experienceType of Appointment: Full TimeFTE: 1Funding: UncertainA visa sponsorship is available for the position listed in this vacancyPosting Date: 09/05/2025Closing Date: Open Until FilledSpecial Instructions to Applicants:The priority consideration date for applications is 9/19/25.
