Our Finance employees are seen as trusted advisors, and we offer ongoing training and development to ensure a strong culture of success.The Manager of Finance role serves as a consultative partner to Sales & Marketing leaders, analyzing business issues, develop recommendations and strategies based on financial research, create and analyze financial reports, and drive the implementation of processes that result in improved financial performance. Prior railroad experience is not required.Primary Activities and Responsibilities:Analyze complex business issues including commercial and/or operating proposals, business segment profitability, marketing and pricing initiatives, and proposed capital investments.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key business partners to facilitate turning financial information into tangible actionsDevelop and utilize financial models to quantify benefits and drive sound, fact-based economic decisionsHelp guide the development of short- and long-term forecasts, plans, and strategies.Consult and communicate analyses through presentations to senior management in the department and business partners from other departmentsMeasure performance of business units/company versus plan, provide updated forecasts and variance explanations. Develop action plans, as appropriate, to address identified issues and drive implementation of action plansFacilitate knowledge sharing and communication between and across the commercial and operating departmentsLeverage past experience to coach, train, and develop peers and junior-level Finance employeesMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by managerMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree4 or more years of experience in of full-time work experience required, including at least 2 years in a Finance role with responsibility for the financial analysis of key business issues, including capital expenditures, business segment profitability, and productivity initiativesPreferred Qualifications:Graduate Degree6 or more years of experience and at least 4 years in a Finance role with responsibility for the financial analysis of key business issues, including capital expenditures, business segment profitability, and productivity initiativesKnowledge and Skills:Experience interacting with Executive Level LeadershipProven track record of delivering solutions that have had measurable financial impactExperience with internal and external resources in developing and implementing decision-support toolsDemonstrated increases in scope of analytical and/or management responsibilityStrong knowledge of financial concepts, processes, and modelingMicrosoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships at all levels of an organizationEffective time management and organizational skillsAbility to manage several projects simultaneously as well as work independently and with diverse teamsLeadership:The CSX Leadership Model is the foundation of our Talent Strategy and is what drives CSX performance.
