Job Spec: Industrial Designer


Remote Vans LLC is looking for an energetic, skilled individual to join our team as an Industrial Designer.


We’re seeking an industrial design graduate with >5 years demonstrated experience, with experience in the RV / Auto / Boat industry preferable. Metal design and fabrication experience essential.


This individual is proactive, enthusiastic and eager to become part of the Remote Vans team. 


Education & Skills:

  • Minimum: Undergraduate degree in industrial design
  • 5-7 years work experience with Solidworks is essential. 
  • Metal Fabrication Experience essential.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and G Suite
  • Advantage: Prior experience working at an automotive manufacturer.


Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify SolidWorks part, drawing, and assembly files,
  • Work with design and engineering teams to model and create various vehicle components, prototypes, and production support equipment
  • Perform static, dynamic, and fatigue FEA and make recommendations to design team based on findings
  • Evaluate design concepts and revise models using DFM best practices
  • Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to adjust designs as needed to “As-Built” specifications and refine models/prints based on current production needs
  • Track and manage revisions for various supplier and vendor parts
  • Reverse engineer supplier parts when CAD data is needed
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure orders arrive on time are correct
  • Assist with R&D vehicle assembly as needed
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Design, Production and Assembly Teams by motivating all team members through collaboration, cooperation, and camaraderie,
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to perform high level engineering calculations,
  • Aptitude for learning new things quickly
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Capable of solving complex problems with simple solutions
  • Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
