Job Title: Collateral Specialist

Reports To: Director of Acquisitions

Department: Post-Closing

Job Summary:

Collateral Specialist will be responsible for completing functions related to the closing of loan applications. Imaging and preparing collateral to be sent to specific Warehouse Banks ensuring to meet their guidelines. This includes performing services requiring interaction and communication with Warehouse Banks, Loan Closers, and Accounting Department regarding loan file status. Additional responsibilities may be added.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Pulling critical collateral documents, such as original note, copy of deed/mortgage, trust agreements, power of attorney agreements, legal description, title work and closing disclosures to be shipped daily to warehouse banks.
  • Process daily shipping of collateral to various warehouse banks.
  • Issue instructions to warehouse banks to forward collateral received to investors as loans are allocated.
  • Review and clear exceptions with warehouse banks to ensure collateral is received and processed promptly to the investors.
  • Review daily report on outstanding notes not received and place calls to settlement/escrow agents to obtain the documents within specific timeframes to meet warehouse turn times.
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to documents and warehouse banks.
  • Maintains familiarity with residential mortgage documents.
  • Works directly with Shipping and Post-Closing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Encompass experience preferred. 3+ years prior experience preferred.
