Volunteer Police OfficerPositions in this class assist police staff with a wide range of tasks that are crucial to the department's daily operations. This is a volunteer position and does not offer any compensation. Reserve Officers are integral to the operations of the Apache Junction Police Department, providing essential support to the Patrol division. These volunteer officers work alongside our full-time staff, improving efficiency and contributing to the department's overall mission.Essential DutiesReserve Officer Functions:Proactive patrolAssist with traffic control on police scenes and during eventsParticipate in police-related community eventsAssist in routine tasks around the departmentRequirements for this role include:Ability to lift 30-50 poundsMust be AZPOST certifiedMust complete FTO within the Apache Junction Police DepartmentAbility to communicate clearly through police radiosAbility to take direction and adhere to chain of command during field operationsReserves in this unit must:Possess a valid driver's licenseFollow oral and written instructions accuratelyPossess strong communication skills, both oral and writtenAttend required meetings and trainingsContact: Lieutenant Painter, 480-982-8260 ext. 2647, mpainter@apachejunctionaz.govCommitment: A minimum of one year of service is required, with a commitment of at least 20 hours per month. Out-of-state certified officers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
