Senior Associate, Accounting Systems

Are you an accounting professional with a demonstrated ability to work well in teams, develop new ideas, and take ownership of your projects? Capital One is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate to join the Controllers Group with a focus on project execution. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to gather and document requirements related to system configuration changes, administer system configuration changes, develop test cases, perform test execution, lead test calls, participate in peer review meetings, recommend changes to existing processes, and maintain an up-to-date understanding of processes impacting GL and TrinTech Reconciliation platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to gather and document requirements related to system configuration changes
  • Administer system configuration changes
  • Develop test cases, perform test execution, and lead test calls
  • Participate in peer review meetings to ensure adherence to best practices and standards
  • Recommend changes or modifications to existing processes and standards
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of processes impacting GL and TrinTech Reconciliation platforms
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in Accounting, Financial Services Industry, or a combination
  • At least 1 year of Financial System experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial System or another large financial system such as Workday or Oracle
  • Experience with Frontier, TrinTech, or other automated reconciliation systems
  • Experience working on projects using an Agile framework, preferably Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience using Jira
  • Experience with Birst or Tableau
  • 1+ years' experience in an Agile Environment
  • Basic knowledge of or experience using SQL
  • Demonstrated ability to automate manual processes
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effectiveness in constantly changing environments
  • Ability to apply integrative thinking in complex situations, identify issues, and propose solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
