Job Summary
In this role, you will carry out the inspection of tooling in line with company procedures, work instructions, control plans, etc. to provide required tooling documentation. You will support efforts to meet Plant quality, delivery, and cost requirements. A high degree of consistent dedication, flexibility, accuracy, sound judgment, and reliability is required. You may represent the site's Metrology Department through direct interactions with internal customers and ensuring products meet standards of quality and safety.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Setup, program, and operate CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), manage and maintain the CMM room, and assist in maintaining the CMM and measuring equipment calibration program in accordance with appropriate standards and schedules.
Perform dimensional and visual inspection of in-process gages. Perform visual inspections using optical comparator, test rubber, and vision camera as necessary.
Perform 100% dimensional and visual inspection of first-off samples and at appropriate intervals during production runs. May conduct visual inspection on molded components; able to identify flash, shorts, contamination, etc.
Measure and document steel dimensions as required by the customer and retain/maintain complete records.
Assist with the identification of equipment and/or process documentation gaps. May perform monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance activities for equipment and test fixtures.
Report defects and OOS (Out of Specification) instances to site management and appropriate department leads and identify & quarantine all defective parts for appropriate disposition. May provide guidance and training to other inspectors.
Liaison with the other Tool Shops to standardize documentation and data collection, Corporate Metrology to develop, compile, certify and transfer all project documentation, and with the Corporate Design Department for change control when necessary.
Maintain compliance with all applicable Corporate, Regional, and Local quality documents/regulations. Review new/updated documents and train/implement as needed.
Maintain the documentation and analysis of, and assist in determining the validity and disposition of, non-conformance events. Provide CAPA input to appropriate team members.
May develop and maintain techniques to properly analyze, align and inspect complex molded components with metrology equipment (ex. drop indicator, OGP, CMM, Micro-Vu, calipers, go/no go gauges).
May inspect, test or measure molded components and interface/communicate with technicians and engineers to describe inspection results.
May prepare documentation for internal customers abiding to data integrity and maintain accurate record systems to assure easy retrieval and proper documentation of information.
May interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or work order.
May review and initiate changes to existing documentation in accordance with applicable procedures. May develop new methods and procedures to support new equipment additions to the system.
May read and understand blueprints and specifications in Metric and Standard.
May participate in plant validation activities as needed.
May maintain equipment in good working order.
Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.

Basic Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Familiarity with and experience using manual measuring equipment
- Previous inspection experience in programming and using computer-based measuring equipment (CMM)
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Minitab a plus
- Understanding of Gage R&R execution, capability studies, and first articles
- Knowledge and interpretation of GD&T symbols

- May use Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Superior verbal/written skills
- Previous engineering experience.
- Formal qualification in engineering or engineering apprenticeship, and quality control systems and procedures.
- Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, etc.)
- Knowledge of SPC and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with QMS auditing.
- Familiarity with rubber compression molds.
- Ability to abide by all regulations, ethics and compliance policies, work procedures, instructions, and all safety and quality rules.
Travel Requirements
Up to 13 Business days per year.
Physical Requirements
Ability to e xert up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects
Additional Requirements
Moderate standing, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking. Must be able to work with items weighing up to forty (40) pounds.
Ensure that the company Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies and other safety regulations are upheld throughout the site, reporting any irregularities to your manager.
Report near miss accidents or incidents at the earliest opportunity using the appropriate documentation.
Ensure correct use of personal protective equipment.
Be compliant with any machine instructions, and responsible for the proper use of all equipment assets within the work area. Ensure that your work area is always kept clean and tidy.
