SMT Production Operator


POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of electronics and electro-mechanical assembly, testing, machine operations or other assignments at the production floor workstations while their primary focus is that of the SMT Line Operator. Recognizes electronic components. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.


QUALIFICATIONS:

2-5 years (or more) successful work experience as an SMT Line Operator. Associate’s degree or higher in business or electronics technology a plus. Ability to be trained for the unique requirements needed for each process, operation, or machine Ability to do precision high quality work on a repetitive basis. Excellent eye-to-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to recognize electronic components and read resistor level by color. Ability to follow product drawings, diagrams, samples, written instructions and verbal instructions. Ability to use light hand/power tools, computers, test equipment and other machines when trained. IPC-A-610 Certification or foundational understanding a plus. ISO9001 Understanding a plus


DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪ Ability to run, program, and maintain the Surface Mount Technology Line for Assembly ▪ Familiarity with Board Loaders/Stackers, Stencil Printers, Pick and Place Machines, Ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection Machines. ▪ SMT Line will require machine preparation, programming, loading components, and running the line successfully while accomplishing visual inspections and verification of correct parts by comparing manufacturer part numbers from the BOM to those being used. ▪ Hand placement of parts along with using reels, tubes, trays, and the process of adding leader lines to reels is required. ▪ Hand-insert electronic components into COMPLEX circuit boards. ▪ Understanding of IPC-A-610 and ISO9001 Quality Standards ▪ Trim component leads. ▪ Sub-assemble electronic and mechanical components and attach to circuit boards. ▪ Visually inspect completed boards, including completeness, resistor values, polarity of capacitors and IC chips. ▪ Perform first article inspections/sign-off as required ▪ Support and be constructively and actively involved in quality initiatives and quality operating system. ▪ Potting and final assembly of products. ▪ Testing and programming completed circuit boards. ▪ Work with engineering to develop and document testing procedures.

Protect and maintain tools and equipment. ▪ Demonstrate positive attitudes and positive actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, sensitivity and professionalism. ▪ Protect the confidentiality of information by preventing unauthorized release of company information, both verbal and/or in writing. ▪ Flexibility/willingness to learn new operations/machines/processes and perform other duties and projects as assigned.
