Role

The company’s opportunistic & private credit strategies group is growing its talent pool within the dedicated real estate team to support the Firm's continued targeted growth in this sector. The group wants to hire an experienced Senior Associate/Vice President to join a high-performing, fast-paced, collaborative team.


The Vice President will work across the company’s opportunistic funds and reinsurance strategy, executing first-lien mortgage loans, mezzanine financing, and preferred equity investments. The real estate team focuses on transactions across various asset types and geographic locations throughout the U.S.


The position will be based at the company’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, with the ability to work in our Dallas office a few days a week.


Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a deal team in underwriting transactions, including supervising analysts and junior staff, ordering, and reviewing third-party diligence, and coordinating with third-party legal counsel.
  • Oversee the development of credit memorandums and other investment committee deliverables.
  • Coordinate with borrowers and operating partners to ensure quality asset management, including analyzing asset-specific and market trends around transactions. Implement risk-mitigating strategies for sub-performing loans as necessary.
  • Source, originate, and structure first-lien mortgage loans, mezzanine financing, and preferred equity investments. Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, brokers, mortgage bankers, commercial and investment banks, developers and investors, and other sources of third-party commercial mortgage loan origination opportunities.
  • Monitor micro/macro commercial real estate market conditions, attend commercial real estate related conferences, and further develop all direct distribution channels.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses of an investment to efficiently pre-screen transactions that contain attributes suitable for the company’s Opportunistic funds and company’s reinsurance strategy.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant real estate finance experience in all property types and complex financing structures.
  • Proven track record originating, underwriting, and structuring relevant commercial real estate debt investments across the US.
  • Strong relationships with commercial and investment banks, real estate brokers, owners, developers, investors, and finance companies.
  • Strong credit, structuring, and underwriting experience in commercial real estate.
  • Well-organized; strong independent work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
