POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting, will be responsible for leading the Company’s financial reporting group as well as technical accounting initiatives while fostering a sense of accountability and teamwork to ensure efficient work processes, cross training, and best practices. Keen ability to identify technical accounting implications. Strong communication skills are required for prompt and precise coordination with general accounting teams, tax, treasury, financial planning & analysis, business development, and other teams both within and outside of Finance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the accurate and timely preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, footnotes and MD&A for Forms 10-Q and 10-K filed with the SEC.
  • Prepares consolidated cash flow statement.
  • Supervises the financial reporting department.
  • Execute the Company’s SOX controls over financial reporting activities, ensuring effective and efficient design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Liaises with outside auditors and tax consultants on a quarterly basis.
  • Completes special projects and analyses as needed.
  • Owns the systems and tools used in the financial reporting department, ensuring all team members are adequately trained.
  • Ensures adequate staff, systems, controls and processes in place to meet requirements.
  • Actively coach and develop the team to empower them to reach their potential.
  • Implement and manage deadlines and project plans amongst all parties involved.
  • Evaluate all significant and unusual transactions, researching technical accounting implications.
  • Research, assess and implement all new, relevant accounting guidance throughout the company’s businesses.
  • Interact with senior/executive management, and present to the Audit Committee, on technical accounting issues.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties to ensure successful services are delivered and customers are satisfied.
  • Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.


EDUCATION & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • CPA
  • Eight to ten years’ experience accounting and reporting for oil & gas exploration and production company; strong in accounting research and knowledge of SEC, SOX and GAAP requirements


SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with Workiva
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in working as part of a team; self-motivated
  • Strong working knowledge of personal computers with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, or comparable software
