Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Physical Therapist in evaluating patients’ physical conditions and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic exercise programs to improve patients’ strength, mobility, and function.
  • Instruct patients in exercises and activities of daily living, ensuring correct techniques and compliance with treatment plans.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Utilize various modalities and equipment (e.g., ultrasound, electrical stimulation) as prescribed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Document patient care and progress notes accurately and timely in accordance with facility policies.
  • Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, therapeutic exercises, and home exercise programs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • CPR certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
  • Stamina to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities involved in patient care.
