Registered Nurse Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Assessment:
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including taking detailed medical histories and performing physical examinations focused on musculoskeletal conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate patients’ progress, providing updates to the orthopedic surgeon and other healthcare team members.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Surgical Assistance:
- Prepare patients for orthopedic surgeries, including pre-operative assessments, patient education, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- Assist the orthopedic surgeon in the operating room, including positioning patients, managing surgical instruments, and providing intraoperative support.
- Provide post-operative care, including wound management, monitoring for complications, and patient education on recovery protocols.
Patient Education and Support:
- Educate patients and their families on orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and post-treatment care, ensuring they understand and are comfortable with the care plan.
- Provide instructions on the use of orthopedic devices such as braces, casts, and crutches, ensuring proper application and usage.
- Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients undergoing treatment for chronic or acute orthopedic conditions.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the orthopedic team, including surgeons, physical therapists, and administrative staff, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers, serving as a key point of contact for patient inquiries and concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases, share insights, and develop coordinated care plans.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments, coordinating follow-up care, and managing patient flow within the practice.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and practice policies related to patient care and documentation.
Registered NurseQualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing or a closely related specialty.
- BLS/ACLS certification required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other medical software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with attention to detail.
