Incumbent will be expected to have basic knowledge in the discipline(s) for which they will be responsible.Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation: Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice. Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Duties/ResponsibilitiesPerforms skilled to highly skilled trades work in area assignedPerforms general maintenance tasksOperates various manual and electrical tools in the performance of tasksClean and repair equipment as neededMay be responsible for general maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, hanging pictures, filter changes, patching and painting of the exterior and interior of buildings.Minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs/maintenance.Repair broken pipes and valves.May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace.Performs other duties as assigned.Additional duties when assigned to the Water Treatment Plant:May assist in the installation of irrigation systems.Landscape maintenance.Repair/replace sprinkler heads and control boxes.Additional duties when assigned to Facilities Management:Maintenance of swimming pools.Performs custodial duties as assigned.Additional duties when assigned to Facilities Renovation and Construction:Assist with renovation, remodeling, demolition, and construction work, including carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, roof, and gutter repair.Assist with space modifications, office reconfigurations, and facility upgrades to meet operational and safety standards.Conduct inspections to assess existing conditions and recommend repair or renovation solutions.Have general knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and general construction methods.Operate and maintain construction tools, equipment, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.Ensure all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and organizational standards.Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and outside service providers as needed.Maintain accurate records of materials, labor, and project progress.Assist with responding to facility-related work orders and provide timely resolutions.Perform maintenance and renovation tasks in ways that support established sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives in renovation projects.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment required for assigned taskKnowledgeable in the occupational hazards, safety precautions and personal protective equipment observed in the trade(s) assigned.Knowledgeable in the City and State rules, regulations and protocols.Knowledgeable in general housekeeping practicesSkilled in the efficient and safe operation of trade specific tools and equipment.Skilled in troubleshooting and repair within assigned trade(s).Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to adapt to performing under frequent deadlines and/or in response to emergencies.Ability to operate vehicles and necessary equipment including but not limited to hand tools.Ability to apply sound judgment and interpretation based on acquired knowledge in circumstances where limited standardization exists.Ability to receive and understand oral and written directions.Ability to recognize and address common safety issues in the fieldAbility to detect improper functioning mechanical systemsMinimum RequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or GED. Experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities can be substituted for the High School diploma or GED. Minimum two years of experience in related field.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS When Assigned to Water Treatment Plant: A valid Florida class "B" Florida Commercial Driver's License.
