We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Instrument & Control System Designer. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas refineries and chemical plants. This role demands a high proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, Excel, and a working knowledge of MicroStation, CADWorx, BlueBeam, and Access is desirable.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the design and development of complex instrumentation and control systems.
  • Effectively manage time and coordinate design team activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Provide technical direction, quality control, and mentorship to junior design team members.
  • Review, redline, and update P&IDs, interlock schematics, and motor schematics.
  • Create detailed wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, demo packages, and I/O loading plans.
  • Design junction boxes, marshalling panels, and DCS/PLC cabinets with Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Develop Instrument Installation Details and generate material take-offs for estimates.
  • Produce conduit and cable tray drawings, including support details and sizing calculations, in accordance with applicable codes and client standards.
  • Design low voltage electrical systems supporting instrumentation, including 120 VAC & 24 VDC power to instruments and instrument power panels.
  • Apply NEC standards for grounding and bonding in designs.
  • Conduct field surveys and plan/execute hot/cold cutovers with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate accountability for all aspects of work product deliverables and maintain excellent client interface skills.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in fiber routing and general fiber optics.

Requirements:


  • Proven design capability with a strong technical foundation in detail design.
  • Experience in field surveys and planning/execution of instrumentation and control system cutovers.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to instrumentation and electrical design.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.


Preferred Skills:


  • High proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation, CADWorx, BlueBeam, and Access.
