PHS’ Nurse Extern program is a wonderful opportunity allowing a Nursing Student to engage in growing your confidence, skills and critical thinking as you progress into the Registered Nurse role.

A Nurse Extern is a Level 3 - Level 6 unlicensed nursing student who has been hired on as a 0.5 Presbyterian Employee.

We are seeking applicants with 9-12 months left of the program upon application. This program was developed to work in tangent with skills taught in the classroom.

As a Nurse Extern, you will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. Responsible for prioritizing the delivery of direct nursing care using time and resources efficiently integrating a standards-based framework model.

Education:
*Minimum Associate Degree
*Degree from accredited academic nursing program preferred

Education specialization:
* Nursing

Credentials:
* Registered Nurse-NM
*State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License Academic Preparation:

BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire.

*ACLS: Emergency Department, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services
*NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care
*PALS: Children Services, Cardiovascular Lab, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services
