The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding an experienced Designer to join our growing Fire Protection team in Portland. As a Designer, you will work on large, complex designs for our projects in Oregon and SW Washington areas. If you have three years of work experience, are proficient in Revit or AutoCAD/AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD preferred, and have strong project management skills, then this may be the role for you. Other responsibilities for this role include:

  • Starting from Sales handoff, you will be expected to create project specific layouts to meet project specifications, published standards, as well as state and local building codes.
  • Make necessary changes and provide detailed feedback to Senior Designer.
  • Attend BIM coordination meetings.
  • Assist in submittal packages including hydraulic calculations.
  • Assist fellow designers on additional projects

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 3-5 years work experience required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Proficient in HydraCAD, AutoCAD/AutoSPRINK & Revit required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software systems required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time required.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and build positive team relationships required.
  • Has or can obtain NICET Level II in water-based layout within 6 months of hire required.
  • Experience leading project and delegating work preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $44.00 per hour; however, base pay offered my vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
