Employment with Schroeder Iron Corporation – Senior Project Manager

Under supervision of the project director, the project manager will manage all aspects of the subcontracted steel scope by optimizing resources and minimizing costs.

Responsibilities

· Takes complete control/ownership of project and all its requirements.

· Review of the construction schedules, procurement, meeting minutes, RFI's, COR's, etc.

· Develops the project's specific scope schedule as it pertains to SIC and communicates with the team on project deliveries and objectives.

· Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.

· Manages effective document control mechanisms for the project.

· Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status.

· Evaluates the job costs associated with project and make decisions based on the input provided.

· Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications.

· Reviews the project schedule and communicates with the production and field staff on project deliveries and objectives.

· Manages the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between designer and contractor.

· Assists the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project.

· Manages the coordination with general contractors/customers and other trades as affected by our scope.

Qualifications and Skills Required

· Must have a bachelor degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture or related from an accredited four-year university or college.

· Must have a minimum 7.5 years experience in construction. 5 years of structural steel / misc. metals experience.

· Technical Drawings/Plan read ability. Experience with computer drafting (ACAD / TEKLA Structures).

· Effective computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software required.

· Ability to demonstrate the competencies of achieving results, initiative, teamwork and analytical thinking.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Good organizational skills

· Must take the initiative to own projects

· The ability to work well with all levels of the organization

· A mindset for making continuous improvements of department processes
