Job PostingThe City of Scotts Valley is hiring for a Police Officer position. The salary range is $95,460.00 - $127,944.00 annually. The job is located in CA 95066, CA and is full-time. The position is open continuously.There is a hiring bonus available: $40,000 ($4,000 upon hire; $6,000 upon successful completion of field officer training; $6,000 upon successful completion of second year of employment; $8,000 at the completion of third year of employment; $8,000 at the completion of fourth year of employment; and $8,000 at the completion of fifth year of employment with the City of Scotts Valley. This specific portion of the policy is limited to the fiscal year funding availability, as determined by the City Manager.Minimum qualifications include:Possession of a current Basic POST Certificate.Current employment with a law enforcement agency.High school graduation or G.E.D. certificate/equivalent.Proof at time of application that candidate will be 21 years old by date of hire.Must be U.S. citizen or must have applied for citizenship and will obtain citizenship within 3 years.Record free of any felony convictions.Must reside or be willing to relocate within a 60 minute drive to the police department.Lateral salary is $7,955 - $10,662 per month. Benefits include:Retirement through the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).Health insurance with dental and vision premiums paid by the City.Life insurance with $50,000 double indemnity policy.Long-term disability premiums.Uniform allowance including cleaning.Vacation accrual up to 168 hours for 15 or more years of service.Holiday pay with double-time for first four hours of a 12-hour shift on a holiday.Longevity pay at 5, 10, and 15 years.Unlimited sick leave accumulation.Pre-tax deductions for medical expenses and dependent care.Deferred compensation plan.Bilingual pay allowance.Education incentive compensation.Access to credit union, tuition reimbursement, and retiree medical benefit.Police officers will patrol the city, enforce laws, perform traffic control, and provide emergency assistance. The Scotts Valley Police Department serves over 11,000 citizens and has 22 sworn officers.
