We have a client located in the Richmond VA area that has an immediate need for a Commissioning Agent.


You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing specifications for the commissioning of HVAC systems for specific projects.
  • Prepare commissioning plans.
  • Prepare pre-start-up and start-up commissioning checklists for specific HVAC systems and sub-systems.
  • Prepare functional performance test plans for specific HVAC systems and subsystems.
  • Review shop drawings related to the commissioning of HVAC systems.
  • Review checklists and functional performance tests provided by Contractors.
  • Organize the commissioning team and schedule commissioning events.
  • Responsible for representing the company and the customer in the commissioning of the HVAC systems.
  • Preparing and witnessing Pre-functional Checks (PCs) and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs)
  • Assist the contractor in facilitating Owner’s Training.
  • Review of Operation and Maintenance Support Information (OMSI) Manuals
  • Preparation and/or review of the Final Commissioning Report.
  • Work independently with limited direction.
  • Mentor and monitor the professional development of other potential commissioning employees.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design review, comment, and recommendations for 3rd party commissioning.
  • Job Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience with mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing trades
  • 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial new construction/ renovation work
  • 5 years of experience in commissioning commercial or industrial new construction/ renovation work
  • Trades license, design experience, or BAS controls experience a plus
  • Commissioning certification or willingness/ability to get a certification from an industry-recognized organization within a calendar year.


  • This is a direct hire permanent position and pay will be based on experience level.
